On Wednesday, June 16, will be playing at My Place Lounge for City of Dearborn 'Taste Test' event, starting at 6PM til?. Will be posting play dates & gigs on Twitter . Search http://www.twitter.com/svrap My song She Takes Pills has been selected to be in the soundtrack of the movie Annabelle&Bear produced in Michigan by production company The Radish Group based in Royal Oak. In the movie soundtrack the song is called Trailer Park Girl. The movie will be premiered at the Detroit Music Hall, Feb 20 & April 17, 2010. A trailer clip is on the www.annabelleandbear.com website.
Also, A portion of my song 'Pinball Blues' is in the documentary film 'Special When Lit'. This is a movie about pinball machines. It is current and running and has won awards at festivals.
In 2007, Sam performed 5-8PM Fridays at TINA'S PLACE in Allen park on Allen Road between Southfield & Ecorse Road. This ended in April because Tina's is taking a break from being open on Friday evenings.
Tina's Place is the gourmet breakfast and sandwich deli in Allen Park. A "3 Egg Breakfast Special" is featured and the sandwichs are gourmet. On most days business is closed in the late afternoon, but on Friday, they are open 'til 8PM with entertainment starting at 5 PM. The music styles are mixed, from the 'Old Standard' ballads, and a mix of more contemporary songs and instrumentals.
Played at Salsaritas in the new Independence Market Place corner of Southfield Road & Outer Drive, August & September, 2007. The repertoire there was a mix, but mostly upbeat. The Menu is Mexican served cafeteria style. Starting a new gig at The New Place Lounge on Sept 21, Start at 10PM. It's on Michigan Ave e/o Outer Drive in Dearborn. Keep checking for new dates.

Lately Sam is playing more of his own songs which are basically Honky-tonk in nature inspired by singer songwriters such as John Prine, Jim Croce and by his own experiences playing the bar circuit. In May, 2007, Sam finished an on-going 9 year run at Cariera's Cucina Italiana Ristorante. Cariera's is a gourmet resturant in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. It caters to the customer who hungers for the finest Italian cuisine. He still plays there occasionally for special events. The repertoire at Cariera's is Easy-listening dinner music with occasional vocals. In the later evening, it becomes a little more upbeat, playing requests when known and also more originals and funk.
George Gershwin's -Someone To Watch Over Me
The Grind is a coffee shop in the heart of Wyandotte Michigan. Sam has played there on misc. weekends depending on open dates. The repertoire tends to be more funky and upbeat. It covers a wide spectrum of music styles.
The coffees offered are gourmet and of a wide variety and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The Grind is also 'biker friendly' and weather permiting nights, the parking in front will be filled with motorcycles. Sam is shown on the left with his BMW R850R
The BMW is now gone. The scooter of choice is the Honda Ruckus, and the guitars of choice are the Taylor 412CE seen above in pic playing at Salsarita's, and a great Les Paul Standard copy that I picked up at a hock shop. When playing with a group, A Taylor T-5 is used. For a mellow sound, the choice is a fingerpicked Taylor NS62-CE nylon string guitar. For gypsy style jazz, the guitar is a Dupont GR-50 (shown on the home page).

The TENNY STREET ROADHOUSE in Dearborn was one of the venues for performance, every Friday night, on-going 6 PM to 9PM for the dinner and drinks crowd in the front lounge. Check the Songs that I Play page . The selections at the Roadhouse were for the most part from Funk/Swing/Originals section of the list.
