Lyrics of Sam Rappa original songs

Songs I Play and Sing

The word that best describes Sam Rappa' performances is 'Eklectic'

While his jazz improvisation in a Gypsy Jazz influenced swing style is his primary focus, his repertoire also includes ballads with vocals somewhat in the style of Leon Redbone, R&B funk/blues ala: Jim Croce, Eric Clapton, John Prine, etc. Easy listening light jazz dinner music, (Gershwin, Berlin, Porter), honky-tonk country (Merle Haggard, Willy Nelson, etc.)

Sam includes a collection of Django Reinhardts compositions in his repertoire.

Shown here is the Dupont guitar purchased in Paris, France and is a duplicate of the guitar used by Django Reinhardt, the internationally famous gypsy guitarist.

For some performances, he also uses a nylon-string guitar for a more mellow tone. The sound he strives for is acoustic.
